Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position at a Level 2 Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Georgia, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

  • Combined Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and Cardiac ICU with 26 beds
  • Common patient diagnoses include drug overdose, MI, subarachnoid hemorrhage, MVC, sepsis, acute respiratory failure, AAA, and suicide attempt
  • Equipment in use includes Life Link, CRRT, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), ventilators, BiPap, Alaris pumps, cardiac monitors, and Glucommander — travelers are not assigned CRRT or IABP patients
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, with potential to increase to 1:3 depending on acuity
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Floating required to all Med/Surg and Critical Care areas, including ED boarders
  • On-call may be requested during low census, but is rare
  • 70% of assigned holidays must be worked

Requirements

  • Active RN license — GA or Compact license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • TNCC preferred; CCRN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Required ICU skills include arrhythmia monitoring, sedation, paralytics, titratable drips, CVP monitoring, care of post-craniotomy patients, and TPA administration
  • Experience at a Level 2 (or higher) Trauma facility preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the past year
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Level 2 Trauma designated, academic teaching hospital with a residency program, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
  • Orientation consists of one week of general facility orientation (Mon–Fri, 8a–4:30p) followed by 2–3 days of departmental orientation on the floor
  • CPI certification is required but will be provided by the facility if not already held
  • Support staff includes CNAs/nurse techs, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, educators, safety sitters, and virtual patient observers
  • Department culture emphasizes teamwork, communication, and prompt response to telemetry and call lights
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies, same rate offered regardless of distance from facility
  • First-time travelers will be considered, though not preferred
  • Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
