Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an IMC/Stepdown position requiring telemetry, ventilator, and transplant experience, with night shift scheduling at a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital in Madison, WI.
Details
- Works across two IMC units: an Acute Med/Progressive Care unit and a Thoracic unit
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), Monday through Friday
- Every other weekend required
- Some holiday coverage required
- Uses Epic EMR (experience required; within the past 12 months preferred)
- Skills utilized include telemetry monitoring, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, vasoactive drip titration, heparin protocols, PCA, pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care, and hemodialysis management
- Floating required as needed
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications — AHA-issued only
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
- Telemetry, oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
- Ventilator and transplant experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting the assignment

- Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital and major referral center ranked #1 in Wisconsin
- A telemetry exam is required prior to start; candidates have two attempts to pass with the following criteria — Adult Exam: 100% identification of lethal rhythms (V-fib, V-tach, asystole), no incorrect answers on 3rd-degree heart block questions, and an overall score of 80% or higher; Pediatric Exam: identification of V-fib, V-tach, asystole, and sinus bradycardia with a passing score of 80% or higher
- If a candidate fails two attempts, a certificate of completion from a cardiac interpretation review course must be submitted before a third attempt is granted; failure after three attempts will result in assignment cancellation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Parking on-site requires a permit through UW Transportation; bus, park-and-ride, and private parking options are also available
