Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital in the North Chicago area, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Work setting is a Level 1 Trauma Center, Level III Perinatal Center, Magnet-designated, comprehensive stroke center teaching hospital with 397 beds
  • Unit consists of 3 Cath Lab rooms performing both Cath and EP procedures
  • Cath Lab case types include diagnostic/interventional, LHC/RHC, NSTEMI and STEMI, Impella, IABPs, Rotoblator, CTOs/staged PCI, shockwave, temp pacers, peripheral (legs) diagnostic/intervention, and loop recorders
  • EP case types include Micra, pacemakers, AICDs, lead extractions/revisions, and generator changes
  • Average daily caseload is 5–15 cases per day
  • 10-hour day shifts, 0700–1730
  • On-call is required: 2 weekend shifts (Saturday and/or Sunday) per 4-week schedule, plus 4–5 overnight weekday call shifts per 4-week schedule
  • 30-minute response time required for call-back; no sleep room available on site
  • No floating required
  • EMR: Epic
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, Philips hemodynamics, Merge PACS, and Philips C-arm

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience required
  • Moderate sedation experience with Versed/Fentanyl required
  • Critical drip management skills required
  • Experience monitoring and circulating cases required
  • Experience with the full range of Cath and EP case types listed is preferred
  • At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN collected within the past year required for consideration
  • Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius requirement
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
  • Department support includes a Charge RN, receptionist, hospitalist/physician available after hours, respiratory therapy, and a manager/supervisor
  • Orientation consists of a facility NEO and 1 day of unit orientation
  • Holiday on-call coverage may be required
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Self-scheduling with manager final approval; schedules are made in 6-week increments
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved
  • Parking is available nearby, and the facility is accessible via the CTA Brown Line
