Description
American Traveler is seeking an RRT with 2+ years of experience, including at least 1 year in a large hospital PICU, for a night shift travel assignment in a pediatric critical care unit at a children's hospital in Ohio.

- Pediatric Critical Care Unit (PICU) setting at a large children's hospital
- Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- 13-week contract
- Epic EMR required
- Floating is required and strongly emphasized; potential float units include CTICU, NICU, Pulmonary (H8A), and general/ED (Core)
- Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of overall respiratory therapy experience, with at least 1 year of full-time experience in a large hospital PICU
- Ohio (OH) RRT license required and must be in hand at time of consideration — license required if applicable
- Active certifications required: BLS, PALS, and RRT credential
- Epic EMR experience required
- Level I pediatric trauma center experience strongly preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Proficiency with medication delivery systems including MDI, aerosol setups (mask and trach), and medications such as Albuterol, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Racemic Epinephrine, and Tobramycin
- Ventilator management experience required, including BiPAP, CPAP, high-frequency oscillator, weaning from mechanical ventilation, and troubleshooting high pressure alarms
- Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures including intubation assist, oscillating ventilator, pressure/volume ventilator, CPAP/BIPAP, and extubation
- Airway management skills required, including suctioning, tracheostomy care, nasal/oral airway placement, and pulmonary hygiene
- Ability to interpret ABGs and perform chest physiotherapy (including vest CPT)
- Two supervisory or manager-level references required for consideration (charge nurse references count for only one of the two)
- First-time travelers will be considered
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
- Candidates who have previously worked permanently at this facility must have a gap of at least 2 years before being eligible
- Floating to different units is a core expectation of this assignment and travelers must be prepared to adapt accordingly
