Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC (Intermediate Care) travel assignment requiring telemetry, vent, and transplant experience in both an Acute Med/Progressive Care unit and a Thoracic unit.
Details
- Rotating between two IMC units: D6/5 (Acute Med/Progressive Care) and B4/3 (Thoracic)
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), Monday through Friday
- Every other weekend required
- Some holiday coverage required
- Floating required as needed
- Patient population includes telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown cases
- Ventilator and transplant patient experience involved
- Epic EMR required; experience within the past 12 months preferred
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- BLS and ACLS certifications required — AHA-issued only
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
- Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
- Vent and transplant experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Skills required include: IV therapy, port access/management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central/PICC/peripheral line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), HFNC, ABG interpretation, heparin protocols, PCA, vasoactive drip titration, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care, and pre/post hemodialysis management

- This is a Magnet®-designated academic teaching hospital and nationally recognized referral center
- A telemetry exam must be passed prior to starting the assignment — candidates have up to two attempts; a third attempt requires submission of a completed cardiac interpretation review course certificate; failure after three attempts will result in assignment cancellation
- Adult telemetry exam criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms (V-fib, V-tach, asystole), no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions, and an overall passing score of 80% or higher
- Pediatric telemetry exam criteria: identification of V-fib, V-tach, asystole, and sinus bradycardia, with a passing score of 80% or higher
- Onsite parking requires a permit through UW Transportation; alternative options include bus, park and ride, and private parking
