Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step-Down (Vascular) position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring vascular surgical experience and night shift availability.

Details

• Step-Down unit in a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,273 beds) designated as a Magnet and Level I Trauma teaching facility
• Specialized vascular surgical patient population including abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomies and stents, peripheral vascular interventions, hemodialysis AV fistulas and grafts, thoracic outlet decompression, lower extremity amputations, and DVT lysis
• Patient ratio of 1:3–4
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• Travelers float within service line to meet facility needs
• No block scheduling available
• No on-call required

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent RN experience required; PCU/IMC experience strongly preferred
• Vascular nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam
• Required skills: IV therapy, central line care and management, arterial line management, peripheral line care, starting and maintaining IVs, cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
• Preferred skills: PICC line management, phlebotomy, blood product administration, wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, PCA management, thrombolytic agent administration
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Provide step-down nursing care to a complex vascular surgical patient population
• Pre-completion of facility modules via WorkRamp is required prior to start date
• Candidates who have worked at any BJC facility as a permanent employee must wait 1 year before being considered as a traveler
• Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Parking is available at the facility for $15/day or $70/month
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
