Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Intermediate Care unit position requiring an active MI RN license and prior stepdown telemetry experience.
Details
- Work in a 22-bed Stepdown Intermediate Care unit within a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 0700-1930
- Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Floating required as needed within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals depending on volume/census
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Cerner PowerChart for charting
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; CPI preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Prior stepdown or intermediate care unit experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience required
- Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration not required)
Additional Information
- Provide intermediate-level nursing care to a diverse patient population including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-surgical cases
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Maximum RTO allowed is 10 days; if RTO falls during a holiday period, travelers must be willing to work at least one of the three designated holidays
- Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 3 years before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Scrub color required: Caribbean Blue
- Recommended to complete up to 8 hours of facility orientation modules within one week of assignment confirmation
