Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a NICU day shift position at a Level 4 academic medical center children's hospital, requiring NRP certification and NICU experience.
Details
- Position is located within a children's hospital NICU at an academic teaching medical center
- Level 4 NICU setting with neonatal and pediatric patient population
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
- 36 or 48 hours available per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Unit operates on a self-scheduling model; schedules are accommodated on a best-effort basis
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating within scope of practice may be required
Requirements
- Active RRT credential required (pending not accepted — must be in hand)
- VA state license required; pending license accepted provided a temporary license can be obtained before the start date — a license from another state is required to be eligible for the temporary license (license required if applicable)
- Current BLS and NRP required
- PALS preferred; ACCS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required; Level 4 NICU experience required
- Cardiac PICU experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of Driver's License and Social Security card required for consideration
- First-time travelers are considered for this position
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include neonatal respiratory therapy, ventilator management (including high-frequency jet and oscillating ventilators), airway management, and oxygen therapy
- Procedures include bubble CPAP, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BiPAP, intubation assist, neonatal inter-departmental transports, and high-risk delivery assistance
- Medication administration includes Nitric Oxide (iNO), racemic epinephrine, and various inhaled medications
- Experience with care of patients with ARDS, pneumonia, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and respiratory distress syndrome is relevant to this role
- RTO is capped at 40 hours per 13-week contract; all RTO must be disclosed prior to acceptance
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval; external travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days
- There is no radius rule for this position — local candidates are accepted
- Nursys license verification is required
