Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT, BLS, and NRP certifications along with at least one year of NICU experience.
Details
- Respiratory Therapy role within a NICU/RRT unit at a children's hospital
- Level 4 NICU patient population with preferred PICU cardiac exposure
- Day shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Ability to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
- 13-week contract length
- Must float within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- PALS certification preferred
- ACCS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
- Level 4 NICU experience required
- PICU cardiac experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Virginia state license required, if applicable
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to NICU and pediatric critical care patients, including intubation assist, ventilator management, and airway management
- Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
- Perform interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports as needed
- Care for infants and children with conditions such as BPD, RDS, and respiratory distress
- Work as part of a collaborative pediatric critical care team
- Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, to be disclosed prior to acceptance
- Any planned time off between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed early
- Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers will be considered for this role
- No radius restriction applies to this position
