Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a NICU day shift position at an academic medical center, requiring Level 4 NICU experience and RRT certification.

Details

• Position is located within a children's hospital NICU at a university-level academic medical center
• Level 4 NICU setting with a pediatric critical care focus
• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
• 13-week contract
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model; preferred schedules will be accommodated on a best-effort basis
• Floating within scope of practice may be required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Patient population includes neonatal and pediatric critical care, with preferred experience in cardiac PICU

Requirements

• Active RRT certification required
• Current BLS and NRP required
• PALS preferred
• ACCS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of NICU and/or PICU experience required
• Level 4 NICU experience required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• VA state license required if applicable; pending license accepted provided a temporary license can be obtained before start — a current out-of-state license is required to be eligible for the temporary VA license
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Copies of all required certifications required for consideration
• Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• First-time travelers will be considered

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include ventilator management using high-frequency jet and oscillating ventilators, airway management, and neonatal transport (inter-departmental)
• Performs and assists with intubation, extubation, Bubble CPAP, HFNC, oscillating ventilator, and bag-mask ventilation
• Administers inhaled medications including Nitric Oxide (iNO), racemic epinephrine, and various aerosol therapies
• Provides care for patients with conditions including respiratory distress syndrome, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, ARDS, and fresh tracheostomy
• Nursys license verification is required
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent staff or internal travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning; external travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
• RTO is capped at 40 hours per 13-week contract; all RTO must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
• No radius rule — local candidates are accepted
• Orientation includes up to 16 hours of specialty-specific, non-billable training modules
