Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a rotating Emergency Department position requiring a PA or Compact RN license and at least 1 year of ED experience.
Details
- Work setting is a general Emergency Department (combined adult and pediatric) in a community hospital
- Rotating shifts available: nights (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) and days (7:00 AM–7:00 PM), 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Patient ratio of 1:4–5
- Cerner EMR; experience required
- Floating within the hospital required, as well as potential floating to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius
- Every other holiday coverage required
Requirements
- Active PA or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of ED RN experience required
- Required certifications (AHA-issued only): ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS, and PALS
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR required
- Core skills required: IV therapy, phlebotomy (starting and maintaining IVs), cardiac monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, and CVA management
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Two supervisor references (within the past 2 years) preferred
- Must be willing to float within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius
Additional Information
- Preferred clinical skills include: pediatric emergency care, respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, ventilated patients), procedural sedation administration and monitoring, IV vasopressors, IV paralytics and sedation, psychiatric patient management (holds, suicidal patients, violent behavior, drug overdose), and triage
- Preferred condition experience includes: asthma, burns, head injury, seizures, mental/behavioral health conditions, and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs must be completed within 24–48 hours of contract signing
- Pre-start online modules (approximately 1 hour) must be completed before entering the facility
- Travel pairs are accepted based on facility need; identical schedules cannot be guaranteed
- Local candidates are accepted at the travel rate
- Former permanent employees of this facility are not eligible for this position
