Description
American Traveler is hiring a Travel Ambulatory PACU RN for a 13-week day-shift contract requiring an active NY RN license and at least 2 years of Ambulatory PACU experience.
Details
- Work in an Ambulatory/Outpatient Phase I PACU setting
- Care for pre-op and post-op surgical patients including endoscopic, laparoscopic, and urology cases
- Utilizes Epic for documentation
- Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (5x7.5 hours, 37.5 hours weekly)
- No weekend requirements
Requirements
- Active New York State RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Ambulatory PACU experience required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management required
- Experience with hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia protocols and insulin administration required
- IV insertion and maintenance skills required
- Experience administering emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents required
- Experience with local anesthesia, Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC), nerve blocks, spinal anesthesia, and post-epidural management required
- Experience conducting pre-op assessments, patient education, and medication reconciliation required
- Experience obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG and operative/procedural consents required
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and Malignant Hyperthermia protocol required
- Experience with pain assessment/management and RASS scoring required
- Epic charting experience preferred but not required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include pre- and post-operative patient care, discharge instructions, and pre/post endoscopy care
- COVID vaccine required with no exceptions
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- RTO must be 5 days or less, with no RTO permitted within the first 2 weeks of the assignment
- Former NYU permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
- Free employee garage parking available upon badge pickup, with street parking also accessible
