Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring at least 1 year of PCU and 2 years of total acute care experience.

Details

• Mixed acuity surgical oncology unit caring for both PCU and Med Surg patients
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics/reconstructive diagnoses
• Care involves chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome management, insulin drips, and heparin drips
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be up to 1:5
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs with no set or blocked scheduling
• Rotating 12-hour day/night contract option available where shift assignments may change every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs
• Floating required within scope of practice
• Uses Epic for computerized charting

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of total acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of current PCU experience
• Acute care experience must be current and consistent within the last 12 months
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management preferred
• Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
• Tracheostomy care/management skills required
• Epic charting experience required
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing the contract, including travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or completion of a mailed fingerprinting packet if outside driving distance
