Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a night shift travel position at an acute care hospital, requiring 2+ years of ER experience and active SC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work setting is an acute care hospital with 75 staffed beds
- General Emergency Department serving a combined adult and pediatric population
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7p–7a
- Weekend and holiday coverage required
- No on-call requirements
- Travelers may be required to float between the Downtown and Northeast campuses based on census and staffing needs
- Epic EMR is used; experience is required
- Free parking is available with a pass distributed at pickup
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must be fully licensed before starting
- Required certifications (AHA only): ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care/management, arterial line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with neurological cases including CVA and neuro-trauma
- SSN and valid driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they meet the 2-year ER experience requirement
- Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted; non-local candidates are given priority
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and is subject to facility approval
- Required pre-start orientation modules are completed before the assignment begins
- Scrub color for the ER is royal blue
- Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November, with peak activity in August and September), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
