Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a night shift travel assignment at a Level I trauma teaching hospital in Ohio, requiring at least 2 years of surgical experience including neurosurgery, spine, complex ortho, and bariatric surgery.
Details
- General OR setting within a large academic Level I trauma hospital
- Night shift schedule: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (3x12-hour shifts)
- Weekend and holiday coverage required as needed
- On-call required: Monday–Friday 9:00 PM–6:30 AM; Saturday–Sunday 6:30 AM–7:00 PM or 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
- Required surgical specialties include neurosurgery, spine, complex ortho/ortho spine, and complex general surgery including bariatrics
- Preferred experience in ENT, GU, plastics, and burns
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Ohio or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of OR/surgical nursing experience required
- BLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Level I trauma and neuro OR experience required
- Surgical Tech experience may be considered in lieu of RN OR experience
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership (supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable for the 2nd reference — no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
- This position operates within a large academic teaching hospital
- Ohio fingerprinting is required immediately upon contract signing — candidates outside Ohio must travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or complete a mailed packet urgently upon receipt
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Former employees are eligible after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility; current employees at any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible
- Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of consideration and built into the contract, with a maximum of 7 days
- Multiple parking permit options are available for purchase through CampusParc, ranging from on-site garage access to budget surface lot options with shuttle service to the medical center
