Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with pediatric critical care experience for a day shift travel assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching children's hospital in South Carolina.

Details

  • Pediatric respiratory therapy unit within a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma academic teaching hospital
  • Patient population includes NICU (Level IV) and Pediatric Critical Care/PICU settings
  • Specialized procedures include bronchoscopy care, airway management/suctioning, and extubation
  • Charting via Epic (experience preferred)
  • Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Floating within scope of practice may be required depending on experience; no floating to sister facilities
  • No on-call required

Requirements

  • Active RRT certification required
  • Active South Carolina Respiratory Care Provider (SC RCP) license required; license must be in hand at time of start — license required if applicable
  • AHA certifications only: BLS required; PALS and NRP preferred
  • NBRC certification accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required; NICU Level IV experience preferred, Pediatric ICU experience will also be considered
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized, though local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of initial consideration; RTO requests submitted afterward will not be accepted
  • Pre-assignment orientation modules are completed prior to start and average approximately 4 hours
  • Scrub color required: Caribbean Blue
  • Parking is free on days and weekdays; a one-time $20 parking pass fee applies for nights and weekends
  • Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November, with peak activity in August and September), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
