Description

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of NICU Level IV or Pediatric ICU experience for a day shift position at a teaching hospital.

Details

  • Work in the Pediatrics unit at a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level 1 Trauma children's hospital
  • Care for pediatric and NICU Level IV patient populations in a critical care setting
  • Provide care for patients requiring bronchoscopy, airway management devices/suctioning, and extubation
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Weekend requirement every other weekend
  • No on-call requirement
  • May float within scope to meet facility needs depending on experience
  • No floating to sister facilities required
  • Epic EMR system used, experience preferred

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • NICU Level IV experience required; Pediatric ICU experience will also be considered
  • Teaching hospital and Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
  • RRT certification required (NBRC and SC RCP accepted)
  • BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
  • South Carolina RRT license required and must be in hand at time of start; license required if applicable
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory therapy care to critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients
  • Perform airway management, suctioning, and extubation procedures
  • Assist with bronchoscopy procedures
  • Caribbean Blue scrub color required
  • Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
  • Block scheduling may be requested prior to assignment but is not guaranteed
  • Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for consideration
  • Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Radius rule of 60 miles applies
  • Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
