Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an outpatient position at a rural critical access hospital, with at least 1 year of experience and BLS certification required.

Details

• Located at a rural critical access hospital serving outpatient, inpatient, home visit, and swing bed program patients
• Work settings include outpatient clinic, acute care, and skilled nursing facility
• Patient population includes orthopedic (e.g., total hip/knee replacement, post-op cervical and spinal surgery, shoulder repair), neurologic (e.g., post-stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease), and geriatric cases
• Shift options include 4x10-hour days (0800–1830) or 5x8-hour days (0800–1600)
• Every 3rd weekend shift required
• No on-call requirement
• No floating to sister facilities required
• Block scheduling may be accommodated
• Epic EMR preferred
• Local candidates are accepted

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA and ARC accepted; AHA Provider, Instructor, and RQI all acceptable)
• Experience in acute care, outpatient, and/or skilled nursing facility settings required
• Proficiency in orthopedic and neurologic patient assessment and treatment
• Skills in AROM/AAROM/PROM, strength testing, pain assessment, vital sign monitoring, and home exercise program development
• Ability to perform patient and family education, safety and injury prevention planning, and discharge planning
• Experience with gait belts, modalities (cryotherapy, moist heat), and standard hospital equipment
• Travel pairs accepted; both can work the same shift
• License required if applicable; temporary or pending licenses accepted

• Responsibilities include evaluating, planning, and implementing individualized treatment programs to improve patient mobility, reduce pain, and restore independence
• Collaborative role working alongside providers and interdisciplinary care teams across multiple settings
• First-time travelers are accepted provided they have at least 2 years of experience in the discipline
• No RTO restrictions; all time-off requests should be submitted upfront
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
