Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift teaching hospital position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
• Teaching hospital with 200-300 births per month
• Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, low risk antepartum, and high risk antepartum cases
• Staffing ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
• Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, pre-op, post-op, and scrub duties
• Attends all deliveries including high risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
• Provides couplet care, low risk antepartum, and transition nursery care
• Utilizes blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and wound vac
• Administers heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
• Float required to Post-Partum and possibly to Swedish First Hill L&D

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (ACLS preferred)
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, and central line maintenance (CVC/PICC)
• Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Experience assisting with high risk deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections, and performing sterile vaginal exams
• Skilled in epidural anesthesia support, pain assessment/management, and use of IV PCA
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE, antepartum and postpartum care, obstetrical triage, fetal monitoring, and IUPC placement/calibration
• Wound assessment and care skills required

Additional Information

• Providers may float between sister facilities near the contracted site as needed
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer for consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless applying as a local candidate
• Former Providence permanent employees may be eligible after a 3-month separation period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
• Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years are required
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities as permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem staff
