Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PICU position at a pediatric hospital in Ohio, requiring current PICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Position is in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at a children's hospital
  • Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • 13-week contract
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Floating required to NICU, CV PICU, ED, stepdown, and med/surg units as needed
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of current PICU experience required; candidates with 1.5–2 years may be considered
  • First-time travelers may be considered with closer to 3 years of PICU experience and recent Level 1 facility experience
  • Recent Level 1 facility experience required
  • Candidates with CVPICU experience only will not be considered
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Required skills include: hemodynamic monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, care of ventilated patients, suctioning (ETT/NT), central line care, arterial line management, IV vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations
  • 2 supervisory references required, with at least one manager or supervisor-titled reference

Additional Information

  • Candidate must reside more than 60 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
  • Candidates who have worked permanently for this health system within the past 2 years are not eligible
  • Floating to other units is a firm requirement and a key expectation of the facility for all travelers
  • Preferred skills include: ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, ICP monitoring, PICC line management, continuous sedation, antiarrhythmics, procedural sedation, and use of the Broselow system
