Description

American Traveler is hiring a Interventional Radiology Technologist with 1-2 years of experience and required travel experience for a 4x10 day shift contract at an acute care, Level I Trauma facility.

Details

• Interventional Radiology unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes acute inpatient, ED emergent, and outpatient routine cases with diagnoses such as bleeds, cancer, fibroids, vascular disease, urological comorbidities, and end-of-life care
• Average daily census of 8 patients with approximately 2 visits per day
• Procedures include interventional body procedures (port, PleurX, gastrostomy tube, nephrostomy tube, and perm cath placements), embolizations for bleeding and fibroids, liver cancer treatment/SIRT, chemo embolization, and Level I trauma procedures (splenic, liver, and pelvic bleeds)
• Equipment includes Siemens single plane, GE Biplane, ultrasound, and patient monitoring systems
• EMR system is Epic (preferred); also uses Pyxis and SBAR
• 4x10 hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
• Weekend requirement of 3–4 weekends per contract; Saturday and Sunday are call only
• Call rotation includes weekdays after hours (department hours are M–F 7:00 AM–5:00 PM); weekend call runs Friday 5:00 PM–Monday 7:00 AM, rotated 1:5 with 4 full-time RTs and one travel RT — approximately two 24-hour call shifts per five-week period
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a lower rate

Requirements

• Minimum of 1–2 years of Interventional Radiology experience
• Travel experience required
• ARRT (R) and BLS required; ARRT (VI) preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• License required if applicable
• Proficiency in venous access including ports, non-tunneled/PICC lines, and central venous line care and maintenance
• Experience with IR procedures including angioplasty, embolization, stent placement, IVC filter placement, liver biopsy, mesenteric angiogram, chest tube placement, thoracentesis, gastrostomy tube placement, nephrostomy, cystoscopy, catheter/drain exchange, internal/external biliary drainage, percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram, renal artery stent placement, and ureteral stent placement
• Ability to scrub and maintain sterile field, serve as room circulator, prep access sites, and perform accurate monitoring
• Experience with fluoroscopy and Siemens equipment required; GE Innova IGS, PACS, ultrasound, and CT experience preferred
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and use of rapid response/code teams
• Two manager or supervisor references from within the past 2 years required (pending references at time of consideration are acceptable)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include equipment setup and maintenance, supply stocking, room circulation, scrubbing to maintain sterile field, and EKG lead placement (preferred)
• Preferred skills include recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias, TIPS procedures, and vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
• Orientation is weekly and tailored based on experience
• Approximately 8–10 hours of non-billable online modules must be completed prior to start and annually
• Candidates who previously worked at this facility (permanent, PRN, or extended placement) must wait 12 months before applying; prior employment must be disclosed with facility name and dates for approval
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved, excluding holidays; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
• Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Scrubs are provided
• Travel pairs are permitted; candidates must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
