Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Emergency Department at a regional referral and tertiary care center serving all patient populations
• 101-bed unit averaging 250 visits per day
• Patient ratios of 1:3-5
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (3x12), 18:45-07:15
• 26-week contract length
• 36 hours per week can be offered
• Float requirement between the Emergency Observation Unit and Emergency Behavioral Health based on need
• Weekend requirement of at least 4 weekend days per 6-week schedule, up to every other weekend
• Uses Pyxis and EPIC systems with SBAR communication and daily shift huddles

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license/certs OK for consideration)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, MOAB, NIHSS, PALS
• TNCC certification preferred
• Skills required: IV starts, triage, telemetry, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management, isolation precautions/PPE
• Arterial line management and CVA care experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• EPIC charting system experience required

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Unit orientation is 24 hours, conducted weekly
• Scrub color requirement: Navy/White
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday, with additional RTO requiring facility approval
• No RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• No additional RTO requests allowed after signing
• Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose employment history for facility approval
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel status and cannot hold both
