Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) night shift position at a Level III Trauma Center and teaching hospital in North Carolina, requiring 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting, Level III Trauma Center and teaching hospital with 733 staffed beds
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within scope; candidate may float within the hospital or to a sister campus depending on booking
- No on-call responsibilities
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license currently in hand; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of PCU or relevant RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Must pass an advanced EKG exam as part of compliance — no exceptions
- Epic EMR experience required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- 13-week contract, night shift
- Scrub color: royal blue and white
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the main campus to be eligible
- RTO is subject to manager's discretion, with a maximum of 4 days; only 1 holiday can be approved
- Pre-start orientation modules required (approximately 4–10 hours, completed before the start date)
- Previous travelers must have been away for at least 1 year before returning to this facility
- Night shift travelers may extend up to twice (2 contract limit); after reaching the extension limit, a 6-month gap is required before reapplying
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
