Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of intermediate-level or PCU experience and active GA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Hospital-based Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with a 12-bed unit and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Adult to geriatric patient population admitted via direct admission from clinics, physicians' offices, prompt cares, other hospitals, or via the emergency department
  • Patient diagnoses include dysrhythmias, CHF, acute onset stroke or stroke symptoms not requiring TPA or critical care, Acute Coronary Syndrome, and Myocardial Ischemia
  • All patients are on hardwire telemetry, self-monitored by the bedside RN
  • Intermediate-level care environment with monitoring interventions no more frequent than every 1 hour
  • EMR: Epic (preferred); Pyxis medication dispensing system in use
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of intermediate-level or PCU nursing experience required
  • PCU, DOU, IMC, Stepdown, or Telemetry work setting experience required
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, and non-invasive airway management
  • Ability to manage cardiac drips (no titration required)
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and medication management

  • Fast-paced environment with a strong focus on patient throughput and patient-centered care within a collaborative team dynamic
  • Scrub color required: Navy Blue
  • Epic experience is preferred but not required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • All RTO must be finalized prior to acceptance — no RTO or schedule requests will be accepted after offer or upon arrival onsite; RTO is not permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract
  • Holiday coverage policy: travelers are expected to work all major holidays that fall during their assignment if 1–2 occur; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment, travelers must work 2 of them (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
  • Travelers who previously worked at this health system as permanent, per diem, or contract staff must have been away from all system facilities for a full year before being eligible
  • Travelers who were previously cancelled or placed on a do-not-return list must complete one successful assignment outside of this health system before reapplying
