Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an ambulatory radiation oncology coordinator role requiring 3 years of recent oncology experience, 1 year of ambulatory experience, and an active OR RN license.

Details

  • Ambulatory oncology setting within a Radiation Oncology clinic on the main campus (Kohler 4th floor)
  • Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 12:00–20:30, with triage responsibilities extending into the evening hours (17:30–20:30)
  • Role primarily functions as a Triage RN, with cross-coverage for Procedure RN and Care Coordination RN responsibilities
  • Triage duties include managing patient flow from inpatient units, coordinating nursing bays, monitoring transportation needs (in-hospital and to SNFs/nursing care homes), and providing acute care for Radiation Oncology patients
  • Acute care responsibilities include suctioning, wound care, and assessment for common Rad Onc conditions such as pain, hypoglycemia, hypotension, nutritional deficits, and skin breakdown
  • Assists with procedures and collaborates with scheduling staff and radiation therapists
  • Cross-coverage for Care Coordination RNs includes patient/family education, treatment plan counseling, symptom monitoring, and on-treatment visit support
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Pharmacy, Social Work, Case Management, Dietitians, and Infusion Services
  • Floating may be required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital; refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate; no radius restriction

Requirements

  • Active OR RN license required (application received by the board is acceptable)
  • Minimum 3 years of recent oncology nursing experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent ambulatory care coordination experience required
  • Current BLS certification (AHA Traditional only; RQI not accepted)
  • Must hold one professional oncology certification (e.g., OCN, CBCN, BMTCN) OR have completed 36 cancer-related CE nursing contact hours per Commission on Cancer requirements each accreditation cycle; OCN preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • COVID vaccination proof required; no exemptions
  • Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (Charge RN references are not acceptable)
  • Full date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • Work history verification covering the last 7 years required, including city, state, dates of employment, and PTO periods
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Conscious sedation experience preferred
  • Core clinical skills required: psychosocial care, patient/family education and support, symptom management, and wound care
  • Must achieve a score of 85% or higher on required Relias assessments
  • No background or license history of any kind will be accepted; a comprehensive lifetime background review is conducted

Additional Information

  • Candidates who are former employees or prior travelers at this facility must provide a reference from the OHSU manager who previously supervised them
  • Candidates returning to this facility must have been gone for at least 6 months
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront and may not exceed 2 weeks for the contract duration
  • Non-billable orientation modules average approximately 4.5 hours and must be completed prior to the start date
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Scrub color or dress code not specified; candidates should inquire during the interview process
