Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience in adult critical care and emergency settings for a night shift position requiring rotation between acute and long-term care.

Details

• Rotation between acute care and long-term care (LTC) settings
• Patient population includes diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, pneumonia, respiratory failure, and respiratory infections
• Specialized procedures include ABG sampling, ventilator management, patient assessment, and pulmonary hygiene
• Equipment used includes Hamilton Vent, Servo-U Vent, NKV330 (NIV device), AIRVO2, Dream Machines, and V30s
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:20
• On-call required approximately once every other week (nights preferred)
• Floating between units is required

Requirements

• Active RRT credential required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• NY state license required
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
• Adult critical care experience required
• Emergency department experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in airway management including endotracheal tube management, extubation, intubation assist, nasal and oral airway placement, suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with nebulizer therapy (handheld, T-piece, trach collar)
• Experience with oxygen therapy modalities including bag-and-mask, ET tube, HFNC, T-piece, and trach collar
• Ventilator management skills including BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will be considered depending on level and type of experience
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• Requested time off (RTO) cannot exceed 10 days for the duration of the assignment
• All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
• Pre-start orientation modules are required and vary by specialty; total module time may reach up to 10 hours
• Gray or gray/black combination scrubs required
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a gap of at least 1 year before returning
• Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained is required for consideration
