Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab / EP Technologist with at least 1 year of experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab settings for a contract position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois.

- Acute care hospital setting — Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
- Assignment within the Cardiac Cath Lab unit; no IR coverage required
- Patient population includes middle and older adults
- Procedures include diagnostic and left/right heart catheterizations, PCI, PTCA, cardiac stent placement, cardiac implant closure device, IABP placement/removal, and rotablator atherectomy
- Responsibilities include scrubbing to maintain sterile field, room circulation, equipment setup, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- Charting via Cerner (experience required)
- 4x12 or 3x12 hour day shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Approximately 2–3 weekend shifts per contract
- On-call required on a rotating basis with staff and agency; call frequency is flexible based on census and can be discussed with the manager
- Contract length is flexible: 13 or 26 weeks available
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab setting
- Active ACLS, BLS, and RCIS (CCI) certifications required; ARRT (R) preferred
- AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards are not accepted
- Proficiency in cardiac cath lab procedures including PCI, PTCA, left/right heart catheterization, IABP, stent placement, and rotablator atherectomy
- Experience with scrubbing, sterile technique, isolation precautions, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Active Illinois license required if applicable
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent or PRN employees must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility is required for all travelers
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 non-holiday RTO days may be requested; additional RTO beyond 5 days requires facility approval
- Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
- Scrubs are provided
- Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
- Day 1 orientation is conducted virtually from home; all assigned modules must be completed by 4:00 PM CST on the first day
