Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with pediatric and NICU experience for a day shift position at a community hospital.

Details

• Community hospital setting with work across multiple units including ED, NICU, and Pediatrics
• Level 2 NICU patient population; pediatric and neonatal experience required
• Patient ratio of 1:25
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Weekend work is required
• Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs
• Epic EMR required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy experience
• Pediatric and NICU experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Active MD license required if applicable
• Current BLS and CRT required; RRT strongly preferred
• ACLS preferred; NRP and PALS preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMV
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric procedures including Bubble CPAP, capillary blood gases, and neonatal/pediatric intubation
• Experience with airway management, tracheostomy care, ABG drawing and interpretation, and patient transport
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy services across ED, NICU, and pediatric settings
• Administer medications including albuterol, Atrovent, Flovent, lidocaine, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, and Spiriva
• Manage patients with conditions including ARDS, pneumonia, aspiration, fresh tracheostomy, and COVID
• Perform chest physiotherapy, pulmonary hygiene, and sputum specimen collection
• Conduct basic EKG interpretation and inter-departmental/ambulance patient transport
• Care for neonatal patients with respiratory distress syndrome, RSV, and transient tachypnea of the newborn
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility may be considered on an exception basis for this position
• Up to 1 RTO request will be considered; all RTO must be submitted and approved prior to the start of the assignment
• Holiday coverage is expected as part of the regular schedule
• Travelers who have worked at this facility for 1 year or more must separate for a minimum of 90 days before returning as a traveler
• Former permanent employees must have been separated for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• Block scheduling is not available for this position
• Orientation includes online modules completed through the Relias/Net Learning portal, averaging 4–8 hours
