Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Center position requiring 5+ years of experience, MEDITECH proficiency, and a full suite of emergency certifications including TNCC.
Details
- Work in the Emergency Center of an acute care hospital setting
- High-volume department seeing approximately 180–200 patient visits per day
- Patient population spans pediatrics through geriatrics, including trauma, CVA, ortho, and some neuro cases; burns are not treated on-site
- Designated as a CVA center; some neuro and trauma cases are transferred out
- Includes a 6-bed behavioral lockdown area staffed by psychiatry
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- 12-hour evening shifts, 11a–11p
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Staffed with 5–6 nurse aides/paramedics per shift
- Security staff and patient safety sitters available; behavioral patients are held in the main ER until admitted
- Ventilated patients are held in the ER until admitted; 24/7 dedicated respiratory therapy support
- Pharmacy is on-site in the department 11 hours per day and on campus 24/7
- Central monitoring tech available
- Nurses perform their own lab draws and IV starts
- Charting system: MEDITECH 6.15 (experience required)
Requirements
- Active RN license — GA or compact license required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS (or ASLS), and CPI
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- MEDITECH EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement
- Must not have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months
- Driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of 2 floor-specific shifts, to be completed within the first week of assignment
- Caribbean Blue scrubs required
- Charge nurse support available on the unit
- Any requested time off must be communicated and confirmed at the time of assignment
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position — at least one prior travel assignment is required
