Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Burn ICU (BICU) position at a pediatric Magnet facility in Akron, OH, requiring a BSN and prior burn or ICU experience on night shifts.
Details
- Work setting is a Burn Intensive Care Unit (BICU) within a pediatric Magnet-designated hospital
- Patient population includes both pediatric and adult patients with burn injuries, as well as patients with complex comorbidities such as diabetes, cardiac conditions, and psychiatric concerns
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend is required
- Floating to competent units is required for all travelers during low census
- Epic EMR — experience preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or Compact RN license with OH privilege — must be in hand prior to consideration, no exceptions
- BSN required — this is a Magnet facility
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current certifications required (must be active and in hand): ACLS, BLS, and PALS
- TNCC preferred
- Proficiency with vasopressor medications, sedation management, and mechanical ventilators
- Experience with arterial line management and wound care
- Skills required include: IV therapy, central line care/management, PICC line management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, isolation precautions/PPE, and infection prevention
- Burn experience preferred
- Valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license) and SSN required for consideration
- One reference required for consideration

- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers — no radius rule applies
- Prior employees of this facility may be considered for the position, provided they are not currently active employees
