Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring 1+ year of recent acute med/surg experience and an active TX or compact RN license.
Details
- Work on a 16-bed Med/Surg unit with a mix of general med/surg and COVID-positive patients
- Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 13-week assignment length
- Maximum patient ratio of 6:1
- Unit staffing typically includes 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, and 1 PCA per shift
- Uses Meditech EMR
- Standard unit equipment used for patient care
- Rotating weekend coverage required, with additional flexibility expected from travel RNs
- Floating to other Med/Surg units as needed
Requirements
- Active RN license (TX or Compact)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute Med/Surg experience within the last year required
- 2+ years of Med/Surg experience preferred
- Ortho, neuro-surgery, or Med/Surg/Telemetry background preferred
- Ability to care for 4-6 patients at a time
- Proficient in standard nursing skills including IV insertion, urinary catheter insertion/maintenance, and central line maintenance
- No gaps in work history of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for Med/Surg patients including medication administration and documentation in the EHR
- Collaborate and communicate with all members of the care team
- Best fit for friendly, positive, patient-centered, and team-focused candidates
- Scrub attire required per facility dress code
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this travel position
