Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of experience and an active OR RN license.
Details
- Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a Level I Trauma teaching hospital
- Care for complex cardiac and vascular patients including advanced heart failure, cardiac surgery, heart valve replacement (TMVR, TAVR, TTVR), adult congenital heart, VAD, and heart transplant populations
- Also treat vascular surgery, ENT, plastics, ortho, OB-GYN, and urology patients
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Weekend work required
- Floating within the hospital required, based on unit needs
- No on-call requirements
- Uses EPIC charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oregon or Compact) required; pending license applications accepted if submitted to the licensing board
- Active OR RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required; CCRN preferred
- BSN and NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including 1 year of recent CVICU experience within the last 2 years in a Level II trauma setting
- Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with care of ventilated patients and interpretation of ABGs
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
- Experience with IV insulin protocols
- Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure preferred
- Experience with pre/post cardiac cath or intervention preferred
- Experience with post cardiac surgery care (not directly from OR) preferred
- Experience with Swan Ganz/pulmonary artery line monitoring
- Two manager or supervisor references required from within the last 24 months (Charge RN references not accepted)
- COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiac and vascular surgical patients in a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
- May float to affiliate hospitals nearby based on unit needs
- Must work two of the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day
- Maximum of seven RTO days approved for the assignment
- First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years of relevant experience
- Travel experience preferred but not required
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
- Former OHSU employees or previous travelers must have been gone at least 6 months to be eligible to return
- Returning candidates must provide a reference from their previous OHSU supervising manager
- Scrubs are provided for OR assignments; no print scrubs permitted
- Daily parking fee of $15 applies
