Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position requiring both PICU and NICU experience with Epic proficiency at an academic medical center.
Details
- This is a Pediatric Float Pool (SRO Float Pool) position floating across multiple pediatric units, including PICU, NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
- 36 or 48 hours per week available; block scheduling cannot be accommodated
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Epic EMR experience required
- Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred
- Work setting is an academic teaching hospital
Requirements
- Active VA RN license or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted if in hand before the Wednesday prior to start date
- Current BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS required
- Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate (Dr. Brown's) required; may be pending at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and the pediatric ED
- Epic EMR experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; candidates with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience may be considered
- Two professional references required
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- BSN preferred
- APHON, CPHON, and OCN certifications preferred
- Preferred skills include CRRT, CVP monitoring, congenital heart disease/repair, ECMO, LVAD/RVAD management, post-cardiac surgery care, ICP monitoring, and hydrocephalus/VP shunt management
Additional Information
- Candidate must adhere to the facility's float pool policy and may be floated across pediatric units within their scope of practice
- RTO of up to 40 hours per 13-week contract; no RTO will be approved during the first 2 weeks of assignment
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation plus leadership approval before returning; external travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
- There is no radius restriction for this position; local candidates are accepted
- The Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate (Dr. Brown's) carries an out-of-pocket cost of approximately $185 if not yet obtained
