Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position requiring PICU and NICU experience, with floating across multiple pediatric units at an academic medical center.
Details
- This is a Pediatric Float Pool (SRO) position floating to multiple units including PICU, NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED, and Postpartum/Mother Baby
- Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- 13-week contract
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
- Patient ratio experience of 1:2 required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Academic teaching hospital setting
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Must be experienced and comfortable with NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and the Pediatric ED
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
- Infant-Driven Feeding (Dr. Brown's) certification required; candidates may be considered with certification pending
- Epic EMR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; candidates with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience may be considered in lieu of travel experience
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- BSN preferred
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, APHON, CPHON, OCN
- Peds PACU experience highly preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Candidate must float across pediatric units in accordance with scope of practice and the facility's float policy
- Up to 40 hours of RTO may be approved per 13-week contract; no RTO will be approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
- Candidates who have previously worked at this health system as permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning; external travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
- Orientation includes specialty-specific modules completed on-site
- No radius restriction for this unit; local candidates are accepted
