Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position requiring PICU and NICU experience, Epic proficiency, and comfort across multiple pediatric care settings.

Details

• This is a Pediatric Float Pool (SRO) position within a large academic medical center
• Float rotation includes PICU, NICU, Pediatric Med-Surg, Pediatric PACU, Pediatric ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby units
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• 13-week contract
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Epic EMR required

Requirements

• Active VA RN license or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted if in hand before start
• Certifications required: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS, and Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate (may be pending at time of consideration; note there is a $185 cost)
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• NICU experience required; must be comfortable with acute pediatrics and pediatric ED patients
• Epic EMR experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required; candidates with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience may be considered
• Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred
• BSN preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidate must adhere to the facility's float pool policy and float within scope of practice as assigned
• Preferred skills include CRRT, ECMO, congenital heart disease/repair, ICP monitoring, post cardiac surgery care, and administration of chemotherapy
• Core clinical skills include ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, IV vasopressors, hemodynamic monitoring, and pediatric dosage calculations
• No radius rule — local candidates are accepted for this unit
• RTO of up to 40 hours per 13-week contract; no RTO will be approved during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning; external travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
• Orientation includes specialty-specific modules completed on-site
