Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiology PCU position at a Level 1 Trauma Academic Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring at least 1 year of cardiology experience and strong cardiac drip titration skills.

Details

• 885-bed Level 1 Trauma designated academic medical center and teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• 28-bed Cardiology Progressive Care Unit with an average census of 26
• Patient population includes Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, chest pain rule-out, post cardiac cath (PCI with or without stent), post EP procedures (pacemaker insertion, ICD, ablation), arrhythmia management, Peripheral Artery Disease, AAA Repair, and DVT/PE
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5; CNA-to-patient ratio of 1:11–14
• Must be proficient titrating cardiac drips including Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, Sotalol, and Tirofiban
• EMR: Epic; IV Pump: Alaris; Med Dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Philips
• 12-hour day shifts (0700–1900), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating may be required to 7 Reynolds, 5 Reynolds, Day Hospital, and 5CC West

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of cardiology experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
• Cardiac post-procedural experience required
• Comfort titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• CNAs support RNs with vital signs, blood glucose checks, hourly safety rounds, and ADLs
• Receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Intensivist (24/7) are all available on unit
• Nurses are responsible for monitoring and verifying telemetry strips once per shift — no dedicated telemetry tech
• Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Clinical interview required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Royal blue scrubs required
