Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) position at a Level II Trauma Center in Charleston, SC, requiring at least 2 years of experience with thoracic, vascular, and cardiac surgical cases.
Details
- Position is based in the Heart OR (CVOR) department of a 313-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center in North Charleston, SC
- OR suite has 17 beds with a 1:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Staffing model includes 1 RN and 1 CST per room, turnover staff, 1 charge RN, and 4:1 anesthesia coverage with an in-house night shift
- Surgical cases include cardiovascular/thoracic, general, trauma, ortho (trauma and elective joints/sports medicine), urology, GYN, plastics, and complex neuro (craniectomy and spine)
- Specific cardiovascular procedures include CABG, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and mitral/aortic valve replacement
- Equipment includes the XI robotic system, Mako joint robot, and advanced spine technology
- EMR system is Meditech
- Shift hours are 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (10-hour shifts) with on-call requirements
- 3 call shifts (12-hour) per 4-week cycle; both day and night call shifts available
- Travelers are scheduled every other weekend and holidays on a rotating basis with hospital staff
- No floating required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — SC or Compact license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date)
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR/cardiovascular OR nursing experience
- Thoracic and vascular experience required, including heart and valve replacements
- Strong circulating RN skills in cardiac (CV/PV), AAA, CABG, fem-pop bypass, and mitral/aortic valve replacement cases
- General circulating OR knowledge including patient positioning, prepping, and facilitating cases across surgical specialties
- Experience with robotic-assisted surgery preferred (XI robotic system experience a plus)
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (candidates from Florida or Missouri must provide two references)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

- Responsibilities include circulating RN duties across cardiovascular, general, trauma, ortho, neuro, urology, GYN, and robotic cases
- AIDET patient experience standards are expected
- Hospital scrubs are provided — no need to supply your own
- Facility is an HCA Healthcare hospital recognized as a Cardiac Center, Total Joint Center, Stroke Center, and Level II Trauma Center
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — no local candidates will be considered
