Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN with Stepdown experience for a Neuro Intermediate night shift position requiring MO or compact RN licensure and BLS/ACLS certification.
Details
- Work in the Neuro Stepdown/Intermediate unit of a hospital environment
- 10-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Patient population includes those with neurological disorders, strokes, and trauma
- Patients are hard wired with equipment including chest tubes and subdural drains
- Utilizes EPIC EMR system
- Night shift schedule from 19:00 to 07:30
- Weekend coverage required every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- May float within service line to Cardiac Stepdown, Surgical Stepdown, or Medical Stepdown
- Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire orientation week
Requirements
- Active RN license eligible for or currently licensed in Missouri (Standard or Compact)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification from AHA required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Stepdown experience in an inpatient setting required
- Neuro and trauma experience preferred
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Must be resilient, adaptable, a team player, and patient
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for post-trauma, surgical intervention, and medical comorbidity patients using the nursing process
- Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort
- Maintain professional accountability and evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers
- Flu vaccination or facility-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
- Black scrub color required
- Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance, and pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs
- High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
- RTO of up to 5 days allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
- Candidates residing within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week local contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transition to a facility outside the radius
- Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
