Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Inpatient Rehab position requiring 2 years of recent specialty experience and both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Inpatient Rehab unit with 12 beds/rooms and an average daily census of 10
- Patient ratio of 1:6 on all shifts
- Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
- Weekend requirement of 8 shifts within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, a combination of Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
- No on-call responsibilities
- Primary unit is Inpatient Rehab on the Smithville Campus, with floating to other MSI units, including ED for inpatient holds, based on facility needs
- Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Uses Epic for charting
- Cares for patients with pulmonary conditions, cardiac conditions, neuro/CVA, orthopedic recovery, debility, and amputation
Requirements
- Active RN license required - both Kansas and Missouri licenses or compact license in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days
- Epic charting experience required
- Must be able to perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and respiratory treatments as ordered
- Must be able to manage BiPAP/CPAP devices with preprogrammed settings for chronic conditions
- Skilled in IV therapy, including blood and blood product administration, port care, PICC line care, IV starts, and venous blood draws
- Skilled in cardiac care including angina, hypertension, and post-MI management
- Skilled in medication management including anticoagulation therapy, antiseizure medications, and diuretics
- Skilled in orthopedic care including assistive devices, mobilization techniques, prosthesis application, and total joint replacement care
- Skilled in endocrine/metabolic care including blood glucose monitoring and insulin protocols
- Skilled in genitourinary care including foley catheter removal
- Skilled in respiratory care including incentive spirometry, suctioning, pulse oximetry, and supplemental oxygen delivery
- Skilled in neurological care including CVA, neuromuscular disease, Parkinson's disease, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, stroke scale assessment, and traumatic brain injury
- Skilled in gastrointestinal care including feeding tube management, NG tube insertion/management, PEG tube feeding, swallowing precautions, and thickened liquids
- Skilled in fall risk assessment, infection prevention, wound care, and pressure ulcer assessment/prevention
- Two professional references required from the past year, one at supervisor level or above and the second from a charge RN
- Social Security Number required at time of consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to rehab patients recovering from pulmonary, cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, and amputation-related conditions
- Navy scrubs required
- Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
- No pending license candidates accepted
- Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time-off requests finalized prior to submission and no additional requests permitted after offer or onsite
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travel partners are not accepted
- Returning staff with prior permanent employment at BJC or Saint Luke's facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Tenure policy requires an 18-month assignment with a 3-month break in service for returning contract staff
