Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring at least 2 years of IR experience, including neuro/stroke procedures and coiling, with an on-call requirement.

Details

  • Interventional Radiology unit at a tertiary care center
  • Workload involves approximately 16 cases per day across three IR rooms, with pre and post coverage in the Radiology Pre Post Unit (RPPU) as needed
  • Patient population includes stroke and other neuro/IR procedure cases
  • Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Weekends required based on on-call rotation
  • On-call requirement: must be available to arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes; approximately 8 call days per 10–12 week period (1 week backup, then primary on Thursdays); call runs from end of shift until 7:00 AM; weekend call is 24 hours (Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
  • Holiday on-call coverage possible (primary or backup)
  • No float requirement
  • EMR: Epic (preferred); also uses Pyxis and SBAR documentation
  • 13-week minimum contract length; longer contracts also considered

Requirements

  • Active NC or Compact RN license required
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; PALS preferred
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of IR experience required — this is a hard stop requirement
  • Experience with neuro/stroke procedures and coiling required
  • Conscious sedation/procedural sedation administration and monitoring skills required
  • Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
  • Ventilator management preferred
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Two professional manager/supervisor references from within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include performing and supporting interventional radiology procedures, including neuro/stroke and coiling cases, as well as providing pre and post procedural care in the RPPU as needed
  • Ceil blue scrubs are provided
  • Unit orientation is approximately 8 hours; hospital orientation occurs during week one and requires availability for classes each day
  • Approximately 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules required (non-paid); must be completed prior to start and annually thereafter
  • RTO up to 7 days may be auto-approved, excluding holidays; no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment; no additional RTO may be requested after signing
  • Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Previous permanent, PRN, or EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be placed at a local pay rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travel pairs are permitted; both travelers must have their own transportation and be on different units
