Description
American Traveler is seeking an Oncology Chemo Certified RN with chemo certification and at least 1 year of specialty experience for an infusion position requiring float coverage across multiple hospitals.
Details
- Position based in the Oncology Chemo Certified unit of a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated teaching hospital with Level III trauma status
- Provides oncology infusion care and will float between three affiliated hospital locations
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- No weekend requirements
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic/Excellian charting system
- Open to block scheduling arrangements
Requirements
- Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of oncology specialty experience required
- 2 years of experience preferred
- BLS certification required
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
- OCN certification preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic/Excellian charting experience required
- Experience with IV therapy, infusions, and central/PICC line care
- Experience administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, and immunotherapy
- Skilled in recognizing and managing chemotherapy side effects and oncologic emergencies
- Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and blood cancers
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, neutropenic precautions, and phlebotomy
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- One supervisor reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Deliver oncology infusion and chemotherapy care across inpatient and outpatient settings, including infusion centers
- Responsibilities include port access and management, blood product administration, and monitoring for treatment-related complications
- Float coverage required between hospital and nearby affiliate locations to meet facility needs
- Navy blue scrub color required
- Pre-start modules are required prior to beginning the assignment
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Local candidates are not accepted; a 100-mile radius restriction applies
- Returning staff must have been separated from perm employment (staff or per diem) for at least 3 months prior to starting
- RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days during the assignment
