Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a night shift position in a Level I Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of PACU and critical care experience.

Details

  • Level I Trauma Center PACU unit with 38 patient bays, open 24/7
  • Average daily census of 70-90 patients
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, Fri/Sat/Sun 1900-0730
  • No on-call requirements
  • Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support
  • Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients
  • Recovers surgical patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant services
  • Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
  • Night shift staff will need to learn to work up preop patients
  • Floating limited to PACU or PreOp units only

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
  • 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
  • Critical care/ICU experience required
  • Level II Trauma experience required
  • Epic EMR charting experience required
  • Skills required include dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV insertion, IV vasopressor administration, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
  • Prior charge experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted with 2 years of Level 1 Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care recovery for a wide range of complex post-surgical patients, including those requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
  • Located within a Magnet-designated, Teaching Hospital and Level I Trauma Center
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week
  • Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may stay for an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
  • Fit testing required; facial hair must accommodate proper mask fit

Cons

Just parking if you work dayshift have to take a shuttle to hospital and park far in a parking lot. Nightshift you can park in the garage.
