Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2 years of cardiovascular ICU experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Work in a 10-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within a hospital setting
- Care for adult to geriatric patients including those with LVADs, balloon pumps, Swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, TR bands, and patients on CRRT
- Frequently care for post-AAA repair patients requiring flat positioning and close monitoring
- Nurses typically carry 2 patients with a dedicated free charge nurse on the unit
- Average daily census of 7 with a patient ratio of 1:1-2
- Intensivist present Monday-Friday with multidisciplinary rounds at 10am daily
- Titrate cardiac drips, vasoactive medications, and sedation for intubated patients
- Utilizes Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
- 14-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
- Prior experience with 1:2 patient ratios preferred
- Epic charting system experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and ABG interpretation
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
- Experience with IABP, CVP monitoring, epicardial pacing wires, and sheath removal
- Experience with CRRT/CVVHD for renal patients
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide specialized cardiovascular critical care including management of LVADs, balloon pumps, and post-cardiac surgery patients
- Collaborate closely with intensivists, physicians, and multidisciplinary care team, especially for daily rounds
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
- RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within assignment period, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former Piedmont employees (Perm/Per Diem/FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers previously unable to complete an assignment at a Piedmont facility must complete one successful assignment elsewhere before reapplying
