Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Med-Surg Oncology unit requiring a Nebraska or compact RN license and prior oncology or PCU experience.
Details
- Stepdown-level PCU Oncology unit (5 North) within an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital
- 18-bed unit caring for adult oncology and trauma PCU patients
- Patient ratios of 1:4-1:5 on both day and night shifts
- 12-hour shifts available, both 0630-1900 and 1830-0700
- Every other weekend required
- Self-scheduling based on unit needs
- Uses Epic EMR
- Alaris IV pumps and Lyko lifts (in even-numbered rooms) used on the unit
- High-flow oxygen is the primary respiratory equipment encountered
- Common drips/medications include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix, with occasional titration of insulin and Cardizem drips
- Floating required to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care
- Two days of unit-specific orientation provided
Requirements
- Active Nebraska or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Strong PCU experience required; oncology experience preferred
- ONS/ONCC certification preferred but not required
- BSN not required
- Charge nurse experience not required
- Driver's license required for submission
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for oncology and trauma PCU patients from diagnosis through remission or end-of-life care
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary support team including Nursing Assistants, Charge Nurse, PT/OT, RN Case Manager, Social Worker, Educator, and Dietitian
- Participate in hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting as part of the unit's patient experience focus
- Work within a team culture that values compassion, positivity, and teamwork among a diverse patient population
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
- Must pass a pass/fail, open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified by driver's license
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
