Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of current experience and AWHONN fetal monitoring certification.
Details
- Work in the Women's Care unit of a hospital setting
- Covers antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum/newborn care
- Handles high-risk and critical patient scenarios including preterm labor, preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and emergency cesarean delivery
- Provides newborn stabilization, medication administration, and specialized newborn care
- Performs procedures including IV starts, laboratory draws, hearing screens, phototherapy, and circumcision assistance
- Administers medications such as Pitocin, misoprostol, methergine, hemabate, mag sulfate, terbutaline, labetalol, nifedipine, hydralazine, and insulin
- EPIC EMR used, with on-site training available
- 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0730
- 36 hours per week over 3 shifts
- Floating required between departments and/or local facilities within 20 miles
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of current L&D experience required
- ADN or ASN required
- Current BLS certification through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
- Current NRP certification required
- AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced fetal monitoring certification required
- Must pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) testing during first week of assignment
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages
- Assess and stabilize obstetric patients presenting with acute or critical conditions
- Support newborn stabilization and specialized newborn medical care, including care for opiate withdrawal and critically ill newborns
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
- Candidates who fail the BCA test twice during orientation will be dismissed from the assignment
- Previous facility employees must wait one year before being eligible to return as a traveler
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
