Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of current experience and AWHONN fetal monitoring certification.

Details

• Work in the Women's Care unit of a hospital setting
• Covers antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum/newborn care
• Handles high-risk and critical patient scenarios including preterm labor, preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and emergency cesarean delivery
• Provides newborn stabilization, medication administration, and specialized newborn care
• Performs procedures including IV starts, laboratory draws, hearing screens, phototherapy, and circumcision assistance
• Administers medications such as Pitocin, misoprostol, methergine, hemabate, mag sulfate, terbutaline, labetalol, nifedipine, hydralazine, and insulin
• EPIC EMR used, with on-site training available
• 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0730
• 36 hours per week over 3 shifts
• Floating required between departments and/or local facilities within 20 miles

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of current L&D experience required
• ADN or ASN required
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Current NRP certification required
• AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced fetal monitoring certification required
• Must pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) testing during first week of assignment

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages
• Assess and stabilize obstetric patients presenting with acute or critical conditions
• Support newborn stabilization and specialized newborn medical care, including care for opiate withdrawal and critically ill newborns
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Candidates who fail the BCA test twice during orientation will be dismissed from the assignment
• Previous facility employees must wait one year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
