Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of RN experience, prior Charge RN experience, and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital environment
- Primarily medical-surgical patient population on a telemetry-capable unit
- 1:6 patient ratios
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Holiday rotation required
- Will be required to work Charge RN shifts as needed
- Floating required as needed, including across all Cone Health facilities
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Previous Charge RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- 1:6 ratio experience required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Skills required: respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and nasal cannula, IV therapy and phlebotomy including blood product administration, peripheral line care and management, and starting/maintaining IVs, medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA, isolation precautions and PPE, and dysrhythmia interpretation/EKG testing
- Additional preferred skills: oral suctioning, PICC line management, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, and surgical drain management
- Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during onboarding (two attempts allowed)
- Current driver's license required to verify address
Additional Information
- Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care including use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Assignment length is 26 weeks with no option for a shorter contract
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as no local rates apply
- Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance deadline is 12 noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date
- RTO must be submitted with the initial application, as post-submission RTO requests are not accepted
