Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of RN experience, prior Charge RN experience, and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital environment
• Primarily medical-surgical patient population on a telemetry-capable unit
• 1:6 patient ratios
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Holiday rotation required
• Will be required to work Charge RN shifts as needed
• Floating required as needed, including across all Cone Health facilities
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous Charge RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• 1:6 ratio experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Skills required: respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and nasal cannula, IV therapy and phlebotomy including blood product administration, peripheral line care and management, and starting/maintaining IVs, medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA, isolation precautions and PPE, and dysrhythmia interpretation/EKG testing
• Additional preferred skills: oral suctioning, PICC line management, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, and surgical drain management
• Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during onboarding (two attempts allowed)
• Current driver's license required to verify address

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care including use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Assignment length is 26 weeks with no option for a shorter contract
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as no local rates apply
• Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
• Compliance deadline is 12 noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date
• RTO must be submitted with the initial application, as post-submission RTO requests are not accepted
