Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring 3+ years of L&D experience and Advanced AWHONN certification.
Details
- >Acute care hospital setting in the Labor and Delivery unit
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- Flexibility to work weekends required, dependent on contract length
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Floating required to Mother/Baby unit and potentially to a sister Providence facility
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Scrubs may be any color
- Free parking available onsite
Requirements
- >Active CA RN license required in hand prior to start
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced (C-EFM accepted in lieu of Advanced AWHONN)
- Epic charting experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Preceptor skills preferred
- Experience with high-risk deliveries, C-section circulating/scrubbing, and vaginal delivery assistance required
- Skilled in fetal monitoring, including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
- Experience managing high-risk antepartum and postpartum conditions such as pre-eclampsia, PPH, and VBAC
- Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- LA fire card completed within the last 30 days required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- >Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
- Support high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal resuscitation as needed
- Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline
- Assist with newborn care, including APGAR scoring, cord care, and discharge teaching
- Facility performs approximately 200-300 births per month
- Two-day floor orientation provided for travelers
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Facility may cancel one shift per two-week pay period
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Candidates residing within 50 miles are considered local for pay rate purposes
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel nurse and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Minimal RTO preferred at time of consideration to avoid delays in the hiring process
- Candidates must disclose any license or background check issues upfront; open hits will not be approved
