Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 3+ years of experience and Advanced AWHONN certification.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of an acute care hospital
  • Facility performs 200-300 births per month
  • Patient population includes antepartum, high-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, mother/baby, and newborn care
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Must be flexible to work weekends, with requirements depending on contract length
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Required to float to mother baby unit and to a sister Providence facility
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required and must be in hand
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Advanced AWHONN (C-EFM accepted in lieu of Advanced AWHONN)
  • Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Preceptor experience preferred
  • Skilled in labor and delivery management including high-risk delivery, C-section circulation/scrub, vacuum/forceps extraction, and hemorrhage/shock response
  • Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement, and spiral electrode placement
  • Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, PROM, preterm labor, and VBAC
  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • LA fire card obtained within the last 30 days required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum settings
  • Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and discharge teaching
  • Assist with surgical procedures such as cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
  • Scrubs of any color are accepted
  • Free parking is available onsite
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Facility retains the option to cancel one shift per two-week pay period
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are considered local for rate purposes
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel employee and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • RTO must be submitted at the time of application
  • Requests for RTO beyond 7 days may delay the offer process due to required client approval
