Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring ventilator and tracheostomy experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details

  • MS/Tele unit within a short-term acute care hospital setting
  • Level I Trauma Center with 1,567 total staffed beds
  • Overflow vent unit caring for pulmonary ventilated patients and vent weaning
  • Patient assignments may include up to 5 non-vent patients
  • Average patient ratio of 1:5-6 across days, nights, and weekends
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • May float frequently between sister units NP1 and EP 4-6
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (CT or Compact) required prior to start date, pending license accepted during application process
  • 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years accepted if from a Level I Trauma Center or large hospital)
  • Current BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
  • Ventilator and tracheostomy care/management experience required
  • Non-invasive airway management skills required
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience required
  • Rapid Response/Code team experience required
  • IV therapy/phlebotomy and peripheral line care/management skills required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • 1 professional reference required
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required with religious/medical exemptions only

Additional Information

  • Provide direct care to ventilated patients including vent weaning and respiratory management
  • Care team supports management of dysrhythmias and emergency response situations
  • Utilize isolation precautions and PPE per facility protocols
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the hospital are considered local
  • Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
  • Travelers may be asked to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
