Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position caring for an adult critical care and emergency department patient population.

Details

  • Work within the Respiratory Therapy department at a teaching hospital setting
  • Patient population is mostly adults in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
  • Predominantly night shift (3x12 hours, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM) with occasional need to work days
  • Weekend coverage required every other weekend
  • No call-in requirement
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

  • Active RRT or CRT certification
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA certifications required)
  • Louisiana state license or compact license required, license in hand upon submission
  • License required if applicable
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMV
  • Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
  • Experience drawing and interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Experience with oxygen therapy delivery including HFNC, T-piece, and trach collar
  • Knowledge of medication delivery systems and respiratory medication administration
  • Experience with tracheostomy care and management
  • Basic EKG skills

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care services including ventilator management, airway management, and pulmonary hygiene
  • Perform aerosol therapy, nebulizer treatments, and medication administration as part of daily responsibilities
  • Assist with intubation and extubation procedures
  • Manage patients with fresh tracheostomies and provide ongoing trach care
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during facility emergency events, with an expectation to remain on-site or serve as part of a relief team until the event concludes
  • Orientation is held five days a week
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be listed on the candidate profile and discussed during the interview process
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have been separated from the facility for one full year before returning as a travel employee
