Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work on a 28-bed Post Surgical Care unit within a Trauma Level III teaching hospital
- Patient population includes orthopedic, spine, vascular, and trauma surgery cases as well as medical overflow patients
- Patient ratios are typically 1:4-6, with surges up to 1:7-8
- 12-hour day shift schedule (0700-1900) with every other weekend rotation
- 36 hours per week on a 6-week scheduling cycle
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) based on staffing needs
- Uses Epic EMR, BD Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips and Massimo monitors
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- Skilled in post-surgical care including incision care, wound care/wound vacs, chest tube and drain management, trach care, NG tube insertion, and use of braces/traction
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously employed in a permanent position
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive post-surgical nursing care including assessment, mobility support, and patient education
- Supported by a strong care team including CNAs, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, remote telemetry monitoring, and a house supervisor
- Additional support available through Rapid Response/Code Team and Behavioral Response Team for patient safety needs
- Mentorship provided to assist with policy guidance and unit orientation
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers will be first to float to other units and must be adaptable to floating within scope of practice
- Expected to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any missed contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking available in designated areas
- Unit culture is described as positive and supportive
- First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel position
